About Stepplio
A step counter and activity tracker that starts on its own, stops when you stop, tells you what to do next, and makes walking with your friends feel like a game you don't want to lose.
The story
My friend and I were going to the gym and walking together, trying to lose weight the honest way: show up, move, repeat.
I have tried to lose weight many times, and it always ended the same way. I couldn't stay consistent with walking or training, and I never really knew what to do. How many carbs should I eat? How hard should I push? Was today's walk enough? Without clear answers, it was easy to quit.
A friend told us to try Strava, and we liked it. But nothing counted automatically, and the GPS kept counting while I was sitting in the same place. My walks said I was moving when I wasn't.
Press walk and it starts. Stop moving and the timer stops by itself. Start walking again and it carries on. That is exactly how a tracker should behave.
Duolingo gets you back every day because your streak is on the line and your friends are watching. I wanted that for walking: share streaks with friends, even gift one, get a nudge when a friend reaches their step goal, and share your route and the places you visited when you feel like it.

It counts your steps all day, starts activities for you, ignores fake movement, and coaches you on what to do and how hard to push, so you stop guessing. And you do it together with your friends.

The difference
GPS drifts even when you don’t move, so many trackers keep the clock running and log a walk that never happened. Stepplio watches your actual movement, so the timer pauses when you stop and continues when you walk.
